Fr. Mike Van Sloun
Pastor

Father Mike Van Sloun joined St. Bartholomew Catholic Faith Community as pastor on July 1, 2013. Previously, he served as pastor at the Church of St. Stephen in Anoka for twelve years and was their associate pastor for six years prior. Before his priesthood ordination on May 20, 1995, Fr. Mike was a Crosier religious brother and a secondary school educator, first at Crosier Seminary High School in Onamia, Minnesota from 1976-1989, and then at Central Catholic High School in Grand Island, Nebraska from 1989-1991. The next four years were spent in study at Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago where he earned an M.Div. in theology with a specialization in Sacred Scripture, and in ministry at St. Benedict the African Parish.   Special ministerial interests include bible study, articles on theological topics, religious photography, retreats on cross spirituality, and pilgrimages to the Holy Land, Italy, Greece and Turkey. Recreationally, Fr. Mike likes to go for daily runs, and he is an avid sports fan who particularly enjoys the University of Minnesota, especially Golden Gopher Basketball, as well as the T-Wolves, Vikings, and Twins.

 

  

Rick Witucki
Deacon

Rick has been our Deacon since 1995. He helps our faith community in so many ways. Some examples include: celebrating baptisms and marriages, preaching, presiding at wakes or funerals when necessary, co-facilitating the RCIA program, helping with marriage preparation, assisting at Mass when needed, being available to members as needed. Rick has worked as a probation and parole officer for juveniles, an in-home family therapist, a social worker and currently as a mediator/evaluator for child custody and parent time cases. He also teaches parent education to separated and divorced parents.

 

 

Patrick Fox, Principal

Patrick Fox joined St. Bartholomew School as Principal in July 2014.  He earned his B.A. degree at St. John's University in Collegeville and his advanced degrees, a master (M.A.) and a specialist (Ed.S.) in education, at the University of St. Thomas.  He began teaching social studies then shifted to administration, first as the associate principal at Wayzata West Middle School and then as Principal of Chippewa Middle School in the Mounds View District from 2002 to 2007.  He spent the last seven years as a Catholic school principal at St. Michael's Catholic School in Prior Lake.  Patrick is a champion of excellence in learning, authentic student assessment, improved learner outcomes, curriculum development, the use of technology for students and faculty and classroom management.  He currently is the president of the Archdiocesan Catholic Schools Principals Association (ACSPA), and he is the past-president of the Minnesota Middle School Association (MMSA).  He is at the forefront of education in Minnesota and he serves as a mentor and advisor to other school administrators.

 

Marion Clark
Parish Administrator

Marion oversees the administrative, financial, human resource and facility needs of the parish.  She has a Master’s degree in Pastoral Ministry and has recently been taking courses in nonprofit management. Marion has been on staff since 1996 and was previously the Director of Shared Ministry and Social Justice.  Prior to coming to St. Bart's she worked in several parishes throughout the Archdiocese in the areas of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry.

 

 

 

Christine Ducharme
Director of Pastoral Care

Christine recruits, trains, supports and directs volunteer ministers of care and actively participates in the following ministries: nursing home and hospital visits, prayer network, funeral ministries, anointing of the sick, marriage and divorce support group and grief and loss support group, marriage preparation and emergency on-call availability. She is also a volunteer police chaplain for Plymouth. Before joining St. Bart's in 1994 she was a nurse for 10 years in the field of chemical dependency. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BS in Family Social Science and Public Health degree. Christine also completed spiritual direction training at the Cenacle and is in the process of completing her Masters of Divinity Degree.

 

Richard Clarke
Director of Music & Liturgy

Richard joined the parish staff in July of 1994. He is a native of San Francisco, CA and moved to the midwest in 1982 when he entered the music and liturgical ministry on a full-time basis. He has been involved in the ministry of the church since 1975. Richard is responsible for planning and leading the liturgical celebrations of the parish community in collaboration with the pastor. He directs the adult choir and children's choir and assists with some of the parish school liturgies. Richard is a 1974 graduate of Kenyon College in Ohio. He has several pieces of liturgical music published by G.I.A Publications in Chicago, IL. He is married to Janet Clarke and has one son, John.

 

 

Cindy Schriever
Director of Stewardship & Development

Cindy has been with us since 1997. Her job consists of implementing the stewardship and planned giving program, being a resource to the parish and school for major fundraising events, and cultivating relationships with local businesses and corporate sponsors. Her background experience includes jobs in education, marketing and communications.

 

 

 

 

 
Andrew Allen
Director of Children & Adult Faith Formation

Andrew joined St. Bartholomew staff in August 2013. He coordinates parish religious education and sacramental preparation programs for preschool through grade 5 as well as faith formation for adults and RCIA candidates.  He attended Catholic schools from grade school through high school.  Andrew earned a B.A. in Catholic Studies and Philosophy at the University of St. Thomas in 2008, before completing a M.A.T. (Master of Arts in Theology) at the St. Paul Seminary. Andrew worked in formation ministry at Holy Spirit Parish and Holy Cross in Northeast Minneapolis prior to St. Bartholomew’s. His goals for St. Bartholomew’s are to foster substantive catechesis and to do so with a prayerful tone, all with an eye toward Christian discipleship.

 

 

Connor Flanagan
Director of Youth Ministry and Middle/High School Faith Formation

Connor received his undergraduate degree in business marketing from the Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Theological Studies from the Augustine Institute in Denver, Colorado.  He served the last three years as the Director of Youth Ministry at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Franklin Park, Pennsylvaniaand his skill set includes religious education, Confirmation preparation, core group, discipleship groups, retreats, mission trips, parent programs, liturgy preparation, worship leader, and song leader. Connor is a talented vocalist and skilled guitarist and has already written and recorded two CDs which are available on iTunes.

 

 

Kari Younes
Director of Community Life

Kari graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2008 with a degree and license in Social Studies Secondary Education, Psychology and Family Studies. She joined the St. Bart’s staff in July 2010 as the Director of Youth Ministry and Middle School and High School Faith Formation.  She transitioned to the new position of Director of Community Life in August 2014. Previously Kari spent two years teaching 11th grade Social Justice and 12th grade Christian Morality at Loyola Catholic High School in Mankato. 

   

   

Kathy Salman
Director of Communications (Part-time)

Kathy joined the parish staff as the part-time Director of Communications in September 2006, and she is in charge of the Reflections newsletter, e-communications, the parish website, and assisting other staff on communication projects as needed.  Kathy grew up in the parish and attended St. Bart's School. After graduating from Benilde-St. Margaret's High School, she earned a degree in journalism and mass communications from Iowa State University. Kathy lived in Chicago for many years and spent the majority of her career producing print and online publications for the National Association of Realtors.

 

 

Terri Kedzuf
Administrative Assistant

Terri started working here part-time in 1996 and went full-time in 1998. Her responsibilities include greeting visitors to the parish office, answering the telephone, helping staff with various tasks and helping Richard Clarke with tasks associated with music and liturgy. Terri worked in the banking industry for many years as an administrative assistant. She enjoys getting to know so many nice, wonderful people at St. Bartholomew.

 

 

  

Peg Deitering
Administrative Assistant (Part-time)

A longtime parishioner at St. Bart’s, Peg joined St. Bart’s staff in December 2011. She also worked for the parish in 2010 as the secretary for the Fulfilling Our Promise capital campaign. Prior to her work here, Peg worked for seven years as a client support representative with ITI/Comdata and also had experience as an office manager and legal secretary. Among her duties at St. Bart’s, Peg has primary responsibility for editing our weekly bulletin.

 

  

 

Pete Therault
Maintenance

Pete has worked in our maintenance and custodial area since 1988. He enjoys interacting with the school kids and watching them grow over the years.
