We believe the youth of St. Bartholomew, as baptized members of the people of God, are called to full participation in our parish community and its contribution to the world. Our focus is directed specifically toward youth in grades 6-8 and their families, as well as extending to other individuals who affect their lives.
Therefore we will:
6th Grade Curriculum
Finding God: Our Response to God’s Gifts is based on a spiral curriculum that integrates the fundamental themes of the Catechism of the Catholic Church with Scripture and Catholic Social Teachings. As children are introduced to and revisit concepts and vocabulary from one year to the next, their knowledge and experience both broaden and deepen. This program provides lessons in the faith and delivers those lessons through experiential activities that encourage lifelong practice. In the 6th grade curriculum, the students will recognize the presence of god in the sacraments and in our communities of faith, and realize the presence of God in our experience of God’s creation in our lives as people for others. 7th and 8th Grade Curriculum
This dynamite new faith formation program introduces Catholic young adolescents to Jesus Christ in a new way and inspires them to follow him. Fostering the faith of young adolescents involves helping them to make connections between the Catholic faith and everyday life. It also means helping young people to strengthen their connection to the faith community. Catholic Connections aims to strengthen the participants' Catholic identity and inspire them to participate more fully in the Church's mission. In a world of laws of nations and laws of the heart, help them recognize that it is the power of the Holy Spirit that has united God's people in love and that continues to be a transforming presence. Using an active, hands-on approach to Catholic religious education, Catholic Connections is a comprehensive parish religious education program for our 7th and 8th graders. (St. Mary’s Press)
