St. Bartholomew - Ministry of Care

The Ministry of Care and Support provides pastoral care to those who’ve experienced hardship. This ministry includes: the prayer network, anointing of the sick, parish visitors and support groups.

Immediate pastoral response is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After hours call 952/473-6601 and follow prompts. If you would like the name of a seriously ill or deceased family member to be read during the announcements and prayed for by Saint Bart's worshipping community during the Masses, call the Parish Office, 952/473-6601.

Eucharist to Hospitalized and Homebound

Trained Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMCH) volunteers provide companionship and support in times of transition and need. They offer support by bringing Eucharist to those who are unable to attend Mass.

Simon Society

Simon Society is a phone tree of volunteers who provide meals or other items of necessity for persons who have an unusual hardship.

Prayer Network

St. Bartholomew has a large network of volunteers who are devoted to the ministry of prayer. To request prayers, click Prayer Network Request or call Merle Wilts, 952/417-9222 or the parish office, 952/473-6601.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

A prayer shawl is a reminder of God’s ever-present love. St. Bart’s blesses parishioners facing serious illness or personal losses of many kinds with the gift of a handmade prayer shawl to reassure them that our prayers are with them and they are not alone. Once a shawl is completed by our parishioner volunteers, it’s blessed and then delivered to a person who needs to feel a special touch from God.

To Volunteer: The prayer shawl ministry meets on Sundays after the 10:30 Mass; anyone is welcome to attend, no experience necessary. Please bring the following supplies with you to the meeting: 3 skeins of the same color of Lion’s Brand homespun (or other soft yarn) - any color, knitting needles (size 11, 13, 15 is best) or a size Q crochet hook. (Limited supplies will be available at the meeting.) If you aren’t able to make a shawl yourself, you can also help by praying for those making and receiving the shawls, and you can make a donation to provide yarn for the ministry’s supply cabinet.

Mass intentions are available throughout the year. Contact Krystal, 952/473-6601, in the Parish Office to reserve a date.

Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is offered for those whose health is impaired by physical or mental illness. Private anointing can be arranged by request. Though chaplains are often available at hospitals, it is appropriate to celebrate the sacrament in the parish or at home with loved ones before major surgery.
