As followers of Jesus Christ, we are all on a lifelong journey attaining knowledge about him and his teachings, as well as fostering a closer relationship with Christ. But our daily lives are busy with work and family and we can get stuck in our faith - not knowing how to move forward or possibly begin. There is a proven and easy pathway that we are excited to share with you.
We are beginning an initiative at St. Bartholomew called Ignite Your Faith. We have developed a plan consisting of four simple, yet powerful phases to lead you through the process, namely:
The Ignite Your Faith Initiative kicked off Sept. 17 & 18 and included the distribution of The Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic, by Matthew Kelly, for parishioners. This book will provide the framework for our initiative. We are asking all teen and adult members to read this potentially life-changing book as we begin to embark on this transformative journey together. Below is a brief description of each phase.
IGNITE YOUR FAITH T-SHIRTS
We still have a small remaining inventory of "Ignite Your Faith" t-shirts - especially size M and L. We are offering these at a special discount of 20% off, for a total of $12. This could make a great holiday gift - for yourself, a family member, or friend! Please contact Jonell Cella (email@example.com) to inquire about the size(s) you need and for payment and pick-up instructions.
From October 2016 through January 2017 we explored ways to talk to God and how to fit prayer into our daily life. During this phase our main events included a book discussion of the prayer chapter, led by parishioner Tod Worner; an evening with Fr. Michael Joncas, entitled Prayer Through Word and Song, and the half-day Ignite Prayer Retreat, featuring internationally-known speaker Ryan O'Hara.
FEBURARY - MAY 2017
Now that we have been practicing growing our relationship with God through prayer, Matthew Kelly names the second sign as "all about our continuous learning, the daily discipline of exploring the way of Jesus and the genius of Catholicism." There are many opportunities to learn about our beautiful faith in phase two and listed below are some of the upcoming events:
