Blue Christmas Service

Monday, December 22, 4:00 PM - Monday, December 22, 5:00 PM

Also known as a "longest night service", the Blue Christmas Service is a prayer service held during the Christmas season that provides a space for those experiencing grief and loss.  It acknowledges that holidays can be difficult for many, offering comfort to those experiencing a difficult life change or other hardship, and acknowledging pain, rather than focusing on compulsory cheer.

Service entails prayers, readings reflecting on hope in darkness, God's presence with us in both joy and suffering, and the lighting of candles in memory of loved ones and will be presented by Carolyn Ondrey, St. Bart's parishioner and West Suburban area chaplain.
