RESPECT LIFE

Respect Life Weekend 2024

January 27 & 28

  • The Respect Life Team will host a table at all Masses in the Gathering Space. Stop by to learn more about how Abria Pregnancy Resources serves young women vulnerable to unexpected pregnancies and how to support their mission. Abria offers robust life-affirming services free of charge for Twin Cities’ young women. These services include lab quality pregnancy and STD testing, ultrasound, one on one life coach approach sessions, and parenting education.

Respect Life Mission Statement

At St. Bartholomew, our mission is to promote and encourage respect for life from conception to natural death through prayer, education, support, and action.

Goals

  • Identify, create awareness of, and respond to all life issues.

  • Engage in service and compassionate care for all life in our parish and the broader community.

  • Share in the commitment to each other's’ well being through fellowship, and a network of personal relationships.

What Does the Church Teach?

The discussion of pro-life issues is expansive. From human cloning to poverty to faithful citizenship to abortion, the Church has much to say. The United States Council of Catholic Bishops offer this helpful webpage of quotations on these issues and many others such as:

  1. Life and Dignity of the Human Person

  2. Natural Family Planning (NFP)

  3. Contraception

  4. IVF/Reproductive Technology

  5. Abortion

  6. Abortion Healing

  7. Biomedical Research

  8. Adoption

  9. Infertility

  10. Assisted Suicide & Euthanasia

  11. Human Life & Dignity: Homosexuality

Resources
  • Abria - a local pregnancy resource located in St. Paul and Minneapolis. If you or someone you know becomes pregnant, Abria offers life-affirming medical and personal support services, education and resources.

How to Get Involved
  • Encourage parishioners to provide ongoing donations of baby and Mom supplies and clothing to Abria, a local pregnancy resource organization located in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

  • Encourage parishioners to give generously to the annual collection benefitting Abria and by serving as a resource for information on the Respect Life Team.

  • Attend Respect Life Team Meetings (ideally on a monthly basis). The group meets to discuss pro-life issues and how we can inform and engage our parish community in the cause. This team is currently in need of a leader to keep the momentum going.  If you are passionate about respecting life from natural birth to death, please consider leading or joining this group.  contact Sue Scott, 952-473-6601 for more information.
